2 Questions To Ask Before Booking A White Water Rafting Tour

Posted on: 13 March 2019

If you have decided to add a little adventure to your vacation itinerary, you may decide that you would like you and your family to experience white water rafting firsthand. However, before you book a tour, ask each company the following questions to give you a better idea of what the trip will entail.

1.  Is There a Hike Involved Between the Outpost and Water?

When finding out about the rafting tour, one of the first questions you can ask is about the distance you have to travel from the touring company's outpost to the water. Is the outpost right next to the river so that all you have to do is get into the water? Or, do you have to hike a short distance between the two locations?

Ideally, the outpost should be as close to the water as possible. Not only does this save you time walking that you could be spending on the rapids, but it also means you will be less tired once you do get into the river.

However, if you are in great shape and do not mind the hike, you may decide that the hike beforehand is right up your alley. You may not mind getting sweaty and hot before feeling the cool, refreshing water splash on you as you brave the rapids.

2.  Is the Tour a Straight Path?

Another question you may want to ask is about the path the tour will take. Does the trip involve a straight line down the rapids that is lead by the company's guide? Or, will you be allowed to play a little or go off on your own somewhat so you can have a fuller experience?

No answers to the above questions are correct except the ones that are right for you and your family. If you would like to simply play it safe and enjoy a trip down the river, you may prefer going in a straight line. However, if you are feeling adventurous, you may want a tour that allows you to explore a little bit under the supervision of a guide

While asking the above questions, try to think of other things you would like to know about the trip each booking company offers so you can select the one that will give you the experience you want. Then, discuss any questions and concerns with the service you choose that offers raft tours to find out the specifics of any packages they have to offer.
